Job Description
If you're ready to take ownership of your projects and have a real say in how work gets delivered, this is a role where your input won't get lost in layers. You'll work across a mix of civil and water projects, staying hands‐on with design while influencing outcomes from concept through to completion.
n
About the role
n
This is a practical, end-to-end design role. You'll be involved in everything from early feasibility and planning through to detailed design, documentation and delivery.
n
Day to day, you'll be:
n
n
- Designing and modelling civil and water infrastructure using tools like 12D, DRAINS and AutoCAD
n
- Managing your own project workflows, including timelines, budgets and deliverables
n
- Preparing technical reports, contracts and supporting documentation
n
- Liaising directly with clients, councils and stakeholders throughout approvals and delivery
n
- Getting out on site when needed to understand conditions and support project progress
n
- Supporting junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative team setting
n
n
You'll work closely with the Engineering Team Lead but have the autonomy to run with your own work.
n
What we're looking for
n
We're looking for someone who is confident in their technical ability and comfortable taking responsibility for projects.
n
Must have:
n
n
- Around 5+ years' experience in civil design (ideally within Australia)
n
- Solid understanding of local development approval processes
n
- Strong experience with 12D, DRAINS and/or AutoCAD
n
- Ability to manage projects and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders
n
n
Nice to have:
n
n
- CPEng (or working towards it)
n
- Experience across both civil and water projects
n
- An interest in mentoring or guiding junior team members
n
n
The team and environment
n
You'll be part of a close-knit engineering team where people are approachable and get on with the job. The Orange office offers a good balance: enough structure to support you, without unnecessary red tape.
n
The work is varied, the expectations are clear, and people are trusted to manage their own time and projects. It's a good fit for someone who prefers a steady, professional environment over big corporate layers.
n
n
- Flexible working arrangements that actually work in practice
n
- Additional leave benefits including birthday leave
n
- Paid parental leave top-ups
n
- Study assistance if you want to work towards chartership or further development
n
- Wellbeing allowance and employee support programs
n
- Recognition through milestone rewards and referral bonuses
