About the Role
n
We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our team in Wickham. The role offers rapid professional development and promotion for the right candidate. We are looking for a team player with approximately 5+ years of relevant experience, drive, ambition, and commitment to producing quality work. The successful candidate will be self‐motivated, eager to develop their skills, and willing to manage a variety of projects, including ground investigations, contaminated land assessments, geotechnical design, remediation design, verification, Part 2A investigations, and due diligence surveys.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Be highly familiar with relevant standards, guidance, and legislative background to the geo-environmental and geotechnical industry, and spread knowledge to junior staff
n
- Implement and maintain health and safety standards across the business
n
- Conduct ground investigations using various techniques, serving as Project Manager on schemes and delegating work to junior staff
n
- Produce project fee proposals and tenders
n
- Understand commercial aspects of business and take responsibility for project finances, including invoicing
n
- Attend meetings, site visits, and site work as required
n
- Manage workload and prioritise tasks to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
n
- Develop client relationships and communicate effectively in writing and verbally
n
- Check and approve the work of junior staff, including health and safety documentation, drawings, logs, calculations, and reports
n
- Help produce guides, template masters, and tools that improve quality and efficiency
n
- Mentor junior staff and share knowledge
n
- Write interpretive reports, including Phase I/II geo-environmental assessments, qualitative and generic quantitative risk assessments, ground gas assessments, and geotechnical assessments
n
- Write bespoke and complex technical assessments
n
- Prepare outline and detailed remediation strategies, applying knowledge of a range of remediation techniques
n
- Undertake remediation verification and reporting
n
- Manage earthworks and materials/waste management, with knowledge of MMPs under the CL:AIRE DoWCoP
n
- Apply detailed knowledge of soil mechanics, determining characteristic values and calculating foundation bearing capacities (shallow and deep foundations) and settlements
n
- Liaise and negotiate with regulators
n
- Comply with and assist in updating/producing internal policies and procedures within ISO standards
n

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
n
Essential Requirements:
n
n
- Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience
n
- Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject (e.g. geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, physical geography)
n
- Full UK driving licence (manual transmission)
n
- Excellent IT skills and highly competent with MS Office
n
- Excellent problem‐solving and contingency‐planning skills, with the ability to adapt and find quick,
innovative and practical solutions
n
- A strong and exemplary work ethic, able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
n
n
Desirable:
n
n
- Postgraduate degree or Masters in a relevant subject
n
- Chartered Status
n
- Experience with software packages such as AutoCAD, Holebase, Surfer, Geo5, etc.
n
n
Salary and Benefits

We offer a market-competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience) and a comprehensive range of benefits:

- Optional 2FF working pattern: slightly extended hours across the fortnight with every second Friday off, providing approximately 26 extra days away from work each year on top of the standard annual leave allowance, and a full salary.
