What began on the Sunshine Coast has grown into a recognised ecommerce brand with a team of more than 160 people and ambitious plans for continued global expansion.

We're looking for an experienced Buyer to take ownership of a significant product category and drive its commercial performance. This role combines strategic buying, trading, supplier management and inventory optimisation, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven retail environment.

You'll have genuine ownership of your category, influence future product development and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

n

Commercial Trading

n

n
- Take full ownership of the daily trading performance of your category.
n
- Analyse sales, gross margin, conversion, sell-through,



stock cover and profitability to maximise commercial outcomes.
n
- Identify risks and opportunities early and implement trading actions accordingly.
n

n

Buying & Range Strategy

n

n
- Develop commercially balanced ranges that align with customer demand, market trends and business objectives.
n
- Lead seasonal assortment planning, product selection, sample approvals and range architecture.
n
- Monitor competitor activity and emerging trends to ensure Billy J remains a market leader.
n

n

Supplier Management

n

n
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
n
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, payment terms, lead times and cost management.
n
- Partner with suppliers to improve product quality and delivery performance.
n

n

Inventory Management

n

n
- Manage stock investment across your category.
n
- Make informed decisions regarding replenishment, allocations, markdowns and exit strategies.
n
- Optimise stock turn while maintaining availability and profitability.
n

n

Reporting & Collaboration

n

n
- Prepare regular trading reports and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
n
- Work closely with Planning, Marketing,



Ecommerce and Product Development to ensure successful product launches and campaigns.
n
- Ensure purchase orders, approvals and critical path milestones are delivered accurately and on time.
n

About You

n

You'll be an experienced fashion buyer who combines commercial thinking with a genuine passion for product.

n

You'll ideally have:

n

n
- 3-5+ years' experience as a Fashion Buyer within a fast-paced ecommerce or retail business.
n
- Strong commercial acumen with proven experience managing sales, gross margin and inventory performance.
n
- Excellent analytical skills and confidence making data-led trading decisions.
n
- Experience negotiating directly with suppliers and managing commercial relationships.
n
- A thorough understanding of buying systems such as Shopify, Style Arcade, Inventory Planner or similar platforms.
n
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Relevant tertiary qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
n
