Hastings Deering is on the hunt for an experiencedSafety Advisor to join our Health, Safety & Sustainability division. This is apermanent, full-time (Monday to Friday)opportunity based out of ourCairns office.

Reporting to the Safety Manager the primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate all aspects of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Risk Management for Hastings Deering employees working within our operations teams.

n

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

n

- Provide expert advice and assistance to facilitate a protected working environment and ensure that all work practices are in accordance with Company policy and recognised and legislated Work Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
n
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment or practices to ensure compliance.
n
- Assist in the maintenance and optimisation of the Safety Management System in accordance to Hastings Deering and legislative requirements.
n
- Facilitate Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) investigations as required.
n
- Coordinate incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
n
- Ensure environmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
n
- Develop and implement site-specific safety strategies and initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies:

n

n
- Formal qualification/s in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety)
n
- HLTPAT005 Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing (desirable)
n
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
n
- Minimum 3 years experience in similar role
n
- Incident investigation and reporting experience
n
