Our client is a well-regarded, large and complex organisation with a diverse operational portfolio. They are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support a key business division focused on accommodation and community-based services. This is an excellent chance for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, delivering quality reporting, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes.

The Role
n
Reporting into the finance leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting, analysis, and reporting of key financial data across a multi-faceted operational portfolio. You will also provide financial management support, contribute to month-end and year-end activities, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Prepare month-end journals in line with relevant accounting standards
n
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers
n
- Manage accounting activities for an accommodation and community services portfolio
n
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly management reports
n
- Analyse budget variances and provide meaningful commentary on performance
n
- Assist in preparing financial commentary for management reporting
n
- Support the annual budgeting and cash flow forecasting process
n
- Provide reporting across multiple operating business units within the portfolio
n
- Oversee monthly financial close activities for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including year-end support
n
- Provide advice on financial management, reporting, budgeting,
reconciliations, compliance, and financial policy matters
n
- Liaise with internal finance teams and operational stakeholders to gather information and ensure consistency in financial processes
n
- Assist with annual reporting requirements, month-end close, subsidiary ledger close, and reconciliations
n
- Support ad hoc finance tasks and projects as required
n

Your Profile
n
n
- A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
n
- Full professional membership with a recognised Australian accounting body such as CA ANZ or CPA Australia
n
- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, reporting, and analysis
n
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial legislation, and best practice, including exposure to IFRS
n
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
n
- Strong reconciliation and month-end close experience
n
- Advanced Excel skills and strong overall systems capability
n
- Experience using ERP/accounting systems
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
n
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
n
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and show initiative
n
