McDonald Murholme is a leading employment law firm acting for employees nationwide. We are seeking a Research Assistant to support our legal team in a role that provides hands-on experience, close mentoring from senior practitioners, and an excellent foundation for your legal career.

General legal or research experience is acceptable, as training will be provided in employment law.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Conduct legal and factual research to support ongoing matters.
n
- Take detailed client chronologies.
n
- Prepare concise research memoranda and summaries for senior lawyers.
n
- Assist with drafting correspondence and preliminary legal documents.
n
- Review legislation, case law, and commentary relevant to employment disputes.
n
- Prepare file notes, chronologies, and supporting materials for hearings and conciliations.
n
- Liaise with clients to gather information under lawyer supervision.
n
- Assist with general administrative and file management tasks as required.
n

Required Skills & Qualifications

- A law degree (or current enrollment in a law degree).
n
- Strong legal research, analytical, and written communication skills.
n
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
n




- Ability to follow instructions and manage competing deadlines.
n
- Professionalism, discretion, and confidence when dealing with sensitive information.
n
- A genuine interest in employment law and supporting clients experiencing workplace issues.
n
- Ability to work autonomously within a team.
