About the Role

n

We are seeking a skilled and experiencedFloor Finisher to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for installing, repairing, restoring and finishing timber flooring for residential and commercial projects while delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining compliance with Australian Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Inspect work areas, interpret job specifications and accurately measure flooring surfaces to determine material requirements.
n
- Prepare subfloors by removing existing floor coverings, cleaning surfaces, checking moisture levels, levelling uneven areas and completing minor repairs prior to installation.
n
- Measure, cut, trim and fit timber flooring materials to ensure accurate installation and a high-quality finish.
n
- Install and secure timber flooring systems using appropriate installation methods, adhesives and fastening techniques in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
n
- Sand, stain, seal and polish timber floors using specialised flooring machinery and professional finishing equipment.
n
- Apply water-based, oil-based, polyurethane and other suitable floor coating systems to achieve durable and aesthetically pleasing finishes.

- Repair, restore or replace damaged timber flooring, including board replacement, gap filling, surface levelling and refinishing work.
n
- Operate, inspect and maintain flooring tools, sanding machines, polishing equipment and other specialised machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
n
- Maintain clean and organised work areas while ensuring all work complies with company quality standards and Australian WHS requirements.
n
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and within scheduled timeframes.
n
- Demonstrated experience in timber floor installation, sanding, polishing, repair and restoration.
n
- Minimum 2 years of relevant full-time industry experience in floor finishing or a closely related role.
n
- Sound knowledge of timber flooring materials, adhesives, floor coatings and installation techniques.
n
- Experience operating professional floor sanding, polishing and finishing equipment.
n
- Ability to accurately interpret measurements and job specifications.
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
n
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
n
- Positive communication and organisational skills.
n
- Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
