Job Description
Precast Structures - Concrete Panel Manufacturing
n
[South East Suburbs] | [FULL-TIME] | [Salary based on level of experience]
n
Coordinate the workflow that keeps our precast panels moving
n
Precast Structures is a precast concrete panel manufacturing operation. We're looking for a well-organised Operations Assistant to support our operations manager and sit at the centre of the panel workflow — from receiving structural drawings through to issuing approved documents to the factory floor, tracking panel status, ordering materials and invoicing clients.
n
If you have a background in building, precast or concrete structural elements — or you've run a similar coordination function elsewhere —or you're a graduate and you take pride in getting the detail right, we'd like to hear from you.
n
What you'll do
n
Drawing and document control
n
n
- Receive structural and shop drawings from architects, engineers and consultants, and register them accurately on receipt.
n
- Distribute drawings to builders, engineers and clients for review, and track each review through to approval.
n
- Maintain strict version control — ensuring only the current, approved revision is in circulation, and that superseded versions are clearly marked and archived.
n
- Prepare approved drawings for release and issue hard copies to the factory floor, so the floor is always manufacturing from the latest approved revision.
n
- File and archive all drawings and correspondence so anything can be retrieved quickly.
n
n
Panel status and reporting
n
n
- Maintain and continually update spreadsheets tracking each panel through design, approval, manufacture and delivery.
n
- Give the Operations Manager clear,
current status reports on panels and outstanding approvals.
n
n
Materials, stock and procurement
n
n
- Order concrete and associated materials at the right time to meet the manufacturing programme — planning ahead to avoid delays.
n
- Run stock control: monitor inventory, reorder ahead of need and keep accurate records.
n
n
Client liaison and invoicing
n
n
- Communicate professionally with clients by phone/email and in writing on drawing status, deliveries and general enquiries.
n
- Prepare and issue invoices for product delivered, ensuring quantities and pricing are accurate.
n
n
General
n
n
- Provide day-to-day administrative and coordination support to the Operations Manager as required.
n
n
About you
n
n
- Document version control — an instinctive sensitivity to revisions and the discipline to keep the correct version in use.
n
- Able to read structural drawings — confident reviewing and interpreting structural and shop drawings.
n
- Organised, with strong attention to detail — manages multiple drawings, panels and deadlines without letting anything slip.
n
- Spreadsheet proficient — competent maintaining detailed tracking spreadsheets (e.g. Excel).
n
- Proactive planner — anticipates material and stock needs and acts ahead of time.
n
- Explicit communicator — professional with clients, architects, engineers and factory staff alike.
n
- Numerate and accurate — reliable with quantities, ordering and invoicing.
n
- Able to work – autonomously.
n
- Proficient use of — MS Excel and MS Word
n
n
Experience
n
A background in building, precast concrete or concrete structural elements; or
n
Experience in a similar coordination, document control or operations support role.
