Senior Backend Developer | Python, Azure & AI Integration |6 Month Contract with extensions | $900-$1000 PD | Sydney CBD | Hybrid (2-3 Days In Office)

I'm partnering with a leading professional services organisation that is investing heavily in modernising its internal applications and data platforms. As part of a major transformation program, they're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join their Applications & Data Integration team and help build the backend services that will support a new modular portal and AI-enabled solutions.

Working within an established Agile delivery team, you'll collaborate with Product Owners, Transformation Leads and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality solutions through fortnightly sprint cycles.

About the role

n

You'll be responsible for designing and developing scalable backend services using Python, building cloud-native applications with Azure Functions and creating robust APIs that integrate with enterprise systems and Databricks. You'll play a key role in building reusable services, implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and delivering automated CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps.



This is a collaborative role where you'll work closely with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and maintainable solutions while contributing to the organisation's growing AI and automation capabilities.

What you'll bring

n

- Experience building REST APIs using FastAPI, Pydantic or similar frameworks.

- Hands‐on experience with Azure Functions and Azure Service Bus.
n
- Strong understanding of event‐driven architecture and system integrations.
n
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
n
- Exposure to Databricks or modern cloud data platforms.
n
- Strong understanding of automated testing, monitoring and observability.
n
- Excellent communication skills and experience working within Agile Scrum teams.
