Working Hours

- Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm

- Overtime available when required including Saturday

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, assembly, testing and refurbishment of mechanical components used within the railway and underground mining industries. Working in a modern workshop environment,
you'll be involved in a variety of hands-on tasks while maintaining high standards of workmanship and embracing the company's Safety First culture.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Inspect, diagnose and assess mechanical components requiring repair or refurbishment.
n
- Dismantle, repair, refurbish and reassemble mechanical equipment.
n
- Assemble and test components for rail and underground mining applications.
n
- Perform precision fitting, machining and mechanical maintenance activities.
n
- Operate workshop machinery, including dynamic balancing equipment and other production machinery.
n
- Carry out high-pressure cleaning of mechanical components and conveyor system parts.
n
- Take accurate measurements using precision measuring equipment.
n
- Complete job documentation, reports and maintenance records using the company's ERP system.
n
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and actively contribute to maintaining a Safety First workplace.
n
- Assist with preparation and finishing work within the paint booth when required.
n
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move materials throughout the workshop (training provided where required).
n
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and comply with all WHS policies,
procedures and quality standards.
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support a positive team culture.
n

Skills & Experience
n
n
- Trade qualification in Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
n
- Minimum 5 years' experience working within a heavy industrial manufacturing, engineering or maintenance environment.
n
- Strong mechanical fitting, assembly and fault-finding experience.
n
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
n
- Competent using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment.
n
- Experience operating workshop machinery.
n
- Forklift Licence (desirable).
n
- Overhead Crane experience or licence (advantageous but not essential).
n
- Dogman Ticket (advantageous but not essential).
n
- Tech savvy with the ability to confidently use computers and learn new systems.
n
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
n
- Physically fit and comfortable working across different areas of a busy workshop.
n
- Positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
n
n
Essential Requirements
n

- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
n
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
n
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
n
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
n
