Core Responsibilities

n

n
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize computerized scan tools and manufacturer software to accurately diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and drivability faults.
n
- Complex Repairs: Perform major repairs on engines, transmissions, steering, and suspension systems while strictly adhering to factory specifications.
n
- Quality Control: Inspect and road-test vehicles post-repair to verify functionality and ensure roadworthiness.
n
- Mentoring: Support and train apprentice technicians, acting as the go-to specialist for the "tough jobs".
n
- Compliance:



Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and ensure work complies with environmental and safety regulations.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

n

n
- Certification & Training: Completion of a recognized automotive technician program - such as a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or higher - and often ASE Master Technician certification.
n
- Experience: Typically 5+ years of post-qualification experience in advanced diagnostics and repairs.
n
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of modern vehicle mechanics, electronic systems, and emerging technologies (EV, hybrid, ADAS).
n
- Licensing: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory. Holding a Licensed Vehicle Tester (LVT) or similar roadworthy accreditation is highly advantageous.
