Duties/responsibilities

n

Laboratory Operations

n

n
- Oversee daily lab operations, resource allocation, and instrument performance
n
- Monitor workflow and reassign tasks to meet turnaround times
n
- Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance are completed on schedule
n
- Adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as needed e.g. laboratory benchwork
n

People & Culture

n

n
- Leadteam management processes
n
- Conduct regular check-ins and performance reviews
n




- Create and maintain development plans for all team members
n
- Mentor and coach staff
n
- Maintain staffing levels and support a positive team culture
n

n

Client Management & Business Development

n

n
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
n
- Act as first contact for clients
n
- Identify and pursue current business opportunities
n
- Provide client visit reports and maintain client insights
n

n

Quality Assurance & Compliance

n

n
- Ensure compliance with NATA, ISO, and internal QMS requirements
n
- Support method improvements and audit readiness
n

n

Continuous Improvement

n

n
- Identify and implement process improvements
n
- Encourage team ideas for workflow optimisation
n
- Support evaluation and validation of new methods and technologies
n

n

Skills/experience

n

n
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or similar discipline
n
- Must have prior experience in a NATA accreditated laboratory environment and a strong technical background
n
- Experience in an environmental laboratory is highly ideal
n
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
n
- Teamwork skills and ability to mentor junior staff
