Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant

A private client located on the central Gold Coast is currently seeking a Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant to join their team.

n

As a Personal Support Worker / Lifestyle Support Assistant you will provide personal care, support and assistance to a client (professional, male, mid-30s) with a spinal cord injury and related physical disability supporting them to live an independent and purposeful life.

n

Tasks and Responsibilities

n

Working closely with this private client in their own home and place of work, and generally in the community, you will provide care, support and assistance that includes:

n

n
- daily living activities including showering, toileting (bowel therapy and bladder care), personal hygiene, grooming, dressing and undressing;
n
- transfers including hoisting in and out of bed and chairs, positioning and rolling using slide sheets, and occasionally manual slings and slide boards;
n
- exercise including passive stretching and assistance with rehabilitation therapies (physio, hydro, and occupational);
n
- domestic duties including laundry, light meal preparation, and cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, and dusting);
n
- occasional participation in the community including attending appointments, shopping, social, recreational, and educational activities;
n
- accompanying the client on domestic and international travel for business and leisure, with expenses covered.

Experience, Qualifications and Personal Attributes

n

Successful applicants will generally have the following experience, qualifications and personal attributes.



Discretion may be exercised in relation to specific requirements as they relate to individual applicants.

Experience

n

n
- Demonstrated ability and previous experience working closely with clients with disabilities in a client-focused, client-directed environment, and with their families and support networks;
n
- Capable of undertaking physically demanding activities including manual handling of people and equipment (lifting, bending, carrying, crouching, pushing, etc).
n

n

Qualifications

n

n
- Vocational qualifications in disability, ageing, healthcare (nursing) or other relevant qualification/s;
n
- First Aid and CPR Certificates from an approved, recognised course provider;
n
- Current Queensland Yellow/Blue Card/s or prepared to undergo criminal history screening;
n
- Open C Class Driver's Licence from an Australian State or Territory;
n
- Valid Australian and/or New Zealand Passport.
n

- Available and able to work during the week and weekends (shifts generally commence between 6am and 10pm) on a four-week roster cycle;
n
- Professionalism, strong communication, organisational, literacy and problem-solving skills;
n
- Reliability, punctuality and commitment;
n
- Attention to detail, cleanliness and hygiene;
n
- Discretion, understanding, respect and privacy in relation to the client and their family.
