REFOCUS is seeking a Kinship Care SupportPractitioner to join our Supporting Kin program and provide ongoingsupport to approved kinship carers, helping create safe, stable, and nurturingenvironments for children and young people.
n
This role works in partnership with kinship carers,children, families, Child Safety, and community partners to strengthen carercapability, support placement stability, and promote positive outcomes forchildren and young people.
n
About the role
n
As a Kinship Care Support Practitioner, you will:
n
n
- Provideongoing support to approved kinship carers throughout their caring journey
n
- Buildcollaborative and trusting relationships with carers
n
- Delivercoaching, mentoring, guidance,
and practical support to strengthen carercapability
n
- Participatein case planning and care team meetings
n
- Coordinatereferrals to therapeutic, specialist, and community services
n
- Advocatefor the needs of children, young people, and carers
n
- Supportcarers through review and renewal processes
n
- Assistcarers to maintain approval requirements, clearances, and documentation
n
- Providepractical and emotional support during periods of stress, crisis, orplacement transition
n
- Promoteculturally protected, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practice
n
- Supportchildren's identity, culture, and lifelong family connections
n
- Maintainaccurate records, reports, and case documentation
n
n
This role requires strong relationship-building skills,sound judgement, and a commitment to child-centred practice that supportspositive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
n
Pay and conditions
n
Hourly pay rates range from:
n
Level 1 PPT3 $30.90 per hour, up to Level 3 PPT4 $52.93 perhour
n
Classification level and pay rate are assessed anddetermined based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.
n

- Canwork effectively with Child Safety and multidisciplinary partners

Qualifications and experience
n
n
- Tertiaryqualification in Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science,Community Services, or a related discipline
n
- Experiencesupporting children, young people, and families within child protection,out-of-home care, or related human services
n
- Demonstratedexperience working collaboratively with carers, families, and serviceproviders
n
- Experiencein case coordination and multidisciplinary practice
n
- Experiencesupporting kinship or foster carers is highly desirable
n
- Knowledgeof the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld), permanency planning, andout-of-home care systems is highly desirable
n
- Experienceworking with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, andcommunities is highly regarded
n
n

n
REFOCUS is committed to supporting practitioner growththrough ongoing supervision, mentoring, reflective practice, and professionaldevelopment opportunities. Staff are encouraged to build their skills inkinship care, cultural capability, trauma-informed practice, and child-centredsupport.
