We are seeking an experienced Firewall Engineer - Network Security to join our client on a 6 month contract. This is a hands-on technical role focused on implementing and supporting firewall changes across data centre environments. You will manage firewall rules, troubleshoot connectivity issues and work closely with Network, Security and Infrastructure teams.

Previous experience supporting firewalls within data centre environments is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Create, modify and remove firewall rules and policies
n
- Support firewall rule requests and change activities
n
- Review existing firewall rules and configurations
n
- Troubleshoot firewall and network connectivity issues
n
- Manage NAT, access and security policies
n
- Perform firewall rule reviews, clean-up and optimisation
n
- Investigate incidents relating to firewall policies and connectivity
n
- Assess firewall change requests and identify potential risks or impacts
n




- Test and validate firewall changes following implementation
n
- Work closely with Network, Security, Infrastructure and Data Centre teams
n
- Follow established change management and security processes
n
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and change records
n

Skills & Experience

n

n
- Strong hands-on experience as a Firewall or Network Security Engineer
n
- Data centre networking and firewall experience is essential
n
- Strong experience configuring and supporting enterprise firewalls
n
- Experience managing firewall rules, policies and change requests
n
- Good understanding of data centre network environments
n
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, NAT, VPNs, ports and network protocols
n
- Experience troubleshooting complex firewall and connectivity issues
n
- Experience with enterprise firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point or Cisco
n
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
n
- Experience working within structured change management environments
n
- Good communication and documentation skills
n
- 6 month contract
n
- Sydney-based
n
- Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite per week
n
- No requirement to physically attend the data centres
