We are working on a long-term contract opportunity for an experienced WHS & Employment Lawyer to join a highly regarded and sought after Commonwealth Government team in Canberra.

Our client is seeking a candidate to commence ASAP, for a 10 month term and an option to extend for 12 months through to 30 June 2028.

n

This is a excellent opportunity for someone at Senior Associate level with experience in WHS and employment law who enjoys working across a broad mix of advisory, litigation and integrity matters.

About the role

n

n
- Advising on WHS matters, including inspections and inquiries
n
- Employment law advice across APS employees, contractors and locally engaged staff
n
- Managing employment-related litigation and disputes
n
- Responding to complaints and claims,



including AHRC and Ombudsman matters
n
- Advising on integrity and governance issues, including conflicts of interest, Public Interest Disclosures and referrals to relevant agencies
n
- Reviewing advice prepared by junior lawyers and providing mentoring and guidance
n
- General legal advice across a variety of matters as required
n

About you

n

n
- Minimum 7 years' PAE in WHS and/or employment law
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships
n
- Previous Commonwealth Government experience will be highly regarded
n
- AGSVA clearance is essential
