Newly created Senior Legal Counsel opportunity with a well-established ASX-listed financial services business operating across funds management, responsible entity services and exchange traded funds.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a rare opportunity to join a collaborative and high-performing business in a broad legal role with the opportunity to mentor a Junior Legal Counsel. You'll advise across funds management, commercial transactions, governance, regulatory matters and strategic business initiatives while working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

The Opportunity

n

Working closely with the General Counsel, your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Advising on a broad range of commercial, corporate and strategic legal matters.
n
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements.
n
- Supporting fund launches, restructures, product development and strategic initiatives.
n
- Advising on managed investment schemes, responsible entity obligations and broader financial services regulation.
n
- Supporting Board and governance processes.
n
- Partnering closely with the Risk & Compliance team on regulatory matters including AFSL, AML/CTF, privacy and DDO obligations.
n
- Managing external legal advisers where required.
n
- Supervising and mentoring a Junior Legal Counsel.
n

Skills & Experience

n

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

n

n
- Ideally 8-10 years' post qualification experience gained in private practice or in house. However,



candidates with robust funds management experience and a minimum of 5 years' PQE are also encouraged to apply.
n
- Strong experience in financial services and funds management.
n
- Experience advising on funds management transactions and strategic projects.
n
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with experience preparing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
n
- Well-developed corporate and commercial legal skills.
n
- The ability to manage matters independently and provide commercially focused legal advice with minimal supervision.
n
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering directly with senior business leaders.
n

The following experience will be highly regarded

n

n
- Experience working within a funds management business, responsible entity or broader financial servicesorganisation.
n
- Experience advising on managed investment schemes, AFSL obligations and broader financial services regulation.
n
- Exposure to DDO, AML/CTF, privacy and corporate governance matters.
n
- Previous in-house experience.Exposure to risk and compliance functions.
n
- Experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior lawyers.
