Job Description

Geelong Leather situated in Culcairn, NSW produces wetblue leather & pickled skins and currently require 20 Hide/Skin Graders within the production department for Immediate start. This role is integral to the preservation & preparation of bovine hides to grading & packing of the hide leather and pickled skins.

What the role requires:

n

Inspect, test, and sort green, salted, and wet blue hides and skins based on size, cleanliness, colour, thickness, and overall quality

n

Grade and categorise hides and skins, under direction, and record data related to quantity and quality

n

Inspect wet blue leather hides or tanned skins for thickness, size, weight, and quality, and sort into lots for further processing or dispatch

n

Participate in the collection and stacking of hides, skins, or leather products

n

Load/unload, hook up, or feed hides and skins into machines and operate production equipment such as conveyor belts and production chains, as directed

n

Pack skins and hides in the required manner, as per production requirements

n

Perform safe knife handling to trim and open hides and skins.

n

Maintain a clean and safe working workplace

n

Assistant in trimming, stacking, folding and baling

n

Record information such as quantity and quality of hides

n





We are looking for Applicants who can:

n

Work Monday to Friday with some optional overtime Saturdays.

n

Be available for varying work hours from 8 – 10hr days (start/finish times vary depending on department).

n

Be physically capable of repetitive manual labour including sorting, lifting up to 20kg, trimming and packing of cattle hides, wetblue leather and small skins.

n

Willing to undertake a pre-employment functional assessment and Drug & Alcohol Testing prior to starting.

n

Be vaccinated for Q-Fever or willing to be.

What we can offer:

We offer the security of a Full-time position of 38 hours a week that pays above the current Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award, with an annual salary of $56,197.44 (this does not include overtime/allowances or bonuses).

n

Annual leave, sick leave, and long service leave are also inclusive of the Full-time position as is superannuation.

n

Overtime is available.

n

Any external training requirements will be paid for by Geelong Leather.

n

This job will be open till the 14th of August 2026 and employment starts immediately once pre-employment procedures are completed and approved.
