Job Description

Country Cooked is seeking an Engineer – Mechanical, Electrical & Refrigeration Maintenance to join our team on a full time basis. This is a critical position within our operations, responsible for maintaining and optimising the mechanical, electrical and refrigeration systems that are essential to our food production and storage facilities. You will play a vital role in ensuring our equipment operates at peak efficiency, minimising downtime and supporting our commitment to delivering quality products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain, service and repair food processing and packaging machinery.
n
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and automation faults.
n
- Carry out refrigeration system maintenance and repairs across production equipment and cold storage areas.
n
- Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance to minimise production downtime.
n
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
n
- Plan and schedule preventative maintenance activities.
n
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to coordinate maintenance services, repairs and equipment requirements.
n
- Negotiate competitive pricing for maintenance materials, spare parts and consumables.
n
- Manage external contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
n
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, consumables and maintenance tools, ensuring stock levels are adequate.
n
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service history for all equipment.
n
- Assist with the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new equipment.
n
- Work closely with Production, QA and Operations to improve equipment performance and reliability.
n
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce downtime and lower maintenance costs.

- Travel between company sites as required to perform maintenance and repair work.
n
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety and food safety standards.

Qualifications section:

n

n
- Trade qualifications or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
n
- Proven experience in mechanical, electrical and refrigeration maintenance within a food production or manufacturing environment
n
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators and control systems
n
- Competency in electrical systems troubleshooting and repair
n
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programmes and condition monitoring techniques
n
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
n
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals
n
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to site locations as required
n
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
n
- Commitment to health and safety compliance and best practices
n
- Desirable: Experience with HVAC systems, PLC programming or industrial automation
n
- Desirable: Relevant certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling or electrical trade licenses
