Join ALS Coal – Newcastle, NSW as a Casual Physical Testing Laboratory Technician
n
ALS Coal currently has opportunities available for a Casual Physical Laboratory Testing (PTL) based at our site in Mayfield, NSW. The position will require shift work (day, afternoon, night) on a rotating roster. Optional overtime is available through busy periods. If you have a drive to produce quality results and a strong team spirit, we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities
n
n
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in a secure & efficient manner
n
- Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions & current best methods
n
- Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams
n
- A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage
n
- Transfer validated results into the reporting system
n
- Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment
n
n
Requirements
n
n
- A valid driver's license
n
- Current rights to work in Australia (visa, permanent resident or citizen)
n
- A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork
n
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
n
- Ability to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
n
- Ability to work independently without supervision
n
- Comfortable with safe manual handling duties, including repetitive lifting
n
- Competent within a strong safety culture
n
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
n
- Previous coal sampling experience would be an advantage but not essential
n
- Flexible and be able to perform shift work and weekend work as required
n
n
Training & Medical Requirements
n
Full training will be provided to successful applicants. As part of the selection process, a pre-employment medical exam is required, including drug and alcohol assessment.
n
Eligibility
n
To be eligible to work at ALS you must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.
