Business Analyst - Technology, Data & Digital

The opportunity

ARENA is building a new Portfolio Delivery & Governance capability to accelerate delivery across technology and the wider business. We are seeking a practical, hands-on Business Analyst who can move confidently between applications, integrations, data, AI, cyber security, finance, HR, governance and operational process improvement.

You will work with project managers, business stakeholders and technical specialists to turn needs into clear requirements, well-designed processes and actionable delivery outcomes. The portfolio is moving quickly, so you will need to be comfortable working independently across several initiatives and introducing structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

What you will do

- Elicit, analyse and document business and system requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews and process-mapping activities.
- Document current-state and future-state processes, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Identify business problems, opportunities, risks, constraints and dependencies.




- Maintain requirements traceability and support impact and readiness assessments.
- Support testing, defect management, acceptance and solution clarification.
- Contribute to adoption, benefits realisation, transition and operational handover.
- Help improve ARENA's analysis practices, templates and delivery standards.

What you will bring

- Experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst in a technology or applications environment.
- Strong requirements elicitation, process analysis and structured documentation skills.
- A practical understanding of business systems, applications and integration concepts.
- Experience supporting delivery and testing in project, program or agile environments.
- The ability to build trust and communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity, sound judgement and the confidence to work independently across unfamiliar domains.
- Gain broad exposure across technology and business change rather than one narrow assignment.
- Help shape the analysis capability within a newly established delivery team.
- Contribute to an organisation with a clear and meaningful national purpose.

- Join on a 12-month fixed-term contract with realistic extension and possible permanent pathways.

Location and eligibility

The role can be based in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne, with Sydney preferred to support team cohesion. ARENA operates a hybrid model requiring three days on site.

The package range is $118,000-$144,000 including superannuation, depending on experience. Australian citizenship and eligibility for a Baseline Security Clearance are required.
