The Opportunity
n
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our Finance team in a hands-on capacity, while also assisting in broader business administration tasks.
n
This is a temporary opportunity for a period of 4-6 months, with the potential to evolve to a permanent position.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Assist with regulatory returns (BAS and Payroll Tax Return)
n
- Assist with process payroll and payment of superannuation in Employment Hero
n
- Preparation and submission of required information to external accountants for the FBT and income tax return and other requirements in relation to company financials
n
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
n
- Assist the Senior Accountant with general ledger responsibilities, including reconciliations and manual journals
n
- Assist with managing the end of month functions including monitoring inventory valuation
n
- Assist with daily accounts receivable processes – invoicing, collections, cash allocations, bank reconciliations, receivable queries
n
- Assist in general administrative functions such as answer phone calls and filing as required
n
- Understanding of all computer modules necessary to perform tasks
n
- Processing of accounts payable invoices,
checking statements and processing payments in Xero
n
- Close liaison with external accountants
n
- Assist with management of fixed assets
n
- Other duties as required
n

The candidate would be required to have:
n
n
- 3 years practical experience within a finance team of an SME
n
- Minimum Certificate IV in Bookkeeping
n
- NSW Police employment check prior to commencement
n
- Experience with Xero is essential
n
- Experience with Employment Hero would be highly valued
n
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are essential
n
- Strong numerical and a high level of attention to detail are critical to success in this role
n
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
n
- Be flexible, self-motivated and energetic and able to work closely within a small team
n
n

You are a highly motivated, hands-on finance professional who thrives in an SME environment. You take pride in working collaboratively within a small team to ensure work is completely accurately and timely.

Qualifications & Skills
n
Education – Formal qualifications in Bookkeeping or a related discipline
n
Experience – Atleast 3 years' experience within a small to medium businesses finance team
n
Technical Skills – Strong proficiency in Xero (essential) and intermediate Excel skills; solid understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, payroll processing and BAS/tax compliance.
n
Accuracy and Attention to Detail – Strong numerical skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
n
Work Ethic & Approach – Highly organised, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
n
Team Player – Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to step into broader operational tasks as required.
n
Other Requirements – NSW Police employment check and valid right to work in Australia.
