Based in Fawkner, Navy Strength Ice Co. is Australia's first hand-cut ice company, specifically designed for bars, restaurants, catering companies, events, sculptors and speciality roasters.

Utilising internationally regarded block makers and purified water, we produce giant coffins of ice that are then hand-cut using various tools to produce crystal clear blocks and shapes of various sizes.

n

The size and density of our ice means that it chills fast and melts slowly, making it an essential ingredient in any cocktail or mixed drink, ensuring that the last sip is as good as the first.

About You :

n

2+ years management experience

n

Experience working in Hospitality and/or FMCG industries, particularly within a production / warehousing environment (desirable)

n

Relevant trade or technical background (desirable)

n

Forklift licence or machinery experience (desirable)

n

Professional Development

n

Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to leadership, safety, food handling, systems and operational improvement

Position Summary :

n

The Production Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating all ice production operations at Navy Strength Ice Co. This role provides leadership, planning and accountability across production, quality, safety and workforce performance. The Production Lead ensures production targets are met, quality standards are consistently achieved, WHS requirements are enforced and Production Supervisors are supported to lead effectively on the floor. This is a hands-on leadership role with accountability for operational outcomes, team capability and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibility :

Production Planning & Delivery

n

Plan and coordinate daily, weekly and seasonal ice production schedules

n

Ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and on time

n

Balance labour, equipment and production demand

n

Monitor output, capacity and workflow across shifts

n

Adjust production plans in response to demand, staffing or equipment constraints

n

Leadership & Team Management

n

Lead, coach and support Production Supervisors and team members

n

Set transparent expectations around performance, safety and quality

n

Support onboarding, training and capability development

n

Manage performance issues and elevate formal matters where required

n

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement

Quality Control & Product Standards

n

Own and enforce ice quality standards across all production stages

n

Ensure consistency in ice clarity, form, packaging and presentation

Review quality trends, waste and rework

n

Prevent dispatch of non-conforming product

Act as the escalation point for quality issues

Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)

n

Lead WHS compliance across production and warehouse operations

n

Ensure machinery, cold-environment and manual-handling risks are managed

n

Enforce PPE usage and safe work procedures

n

Investigate incidents, near misses and hazards

n

Promote a strong safety-first culture

n

Equipment, Warehouse & Stock Oversight

n

Oversee correct use and maintenance of production equipment

n

Coordinate preventative maintenance and elevate major issues

n

Ensure warehouse cleanliness, organisation and cold-storage standards

n

Oversee stock accuracy, wastage recording and inventory controls

n

Support continuous improvement of production layouts and workflows

n

Report production performance, quality and safety metrics to Operations Manager

n

Analyse data to identify efficiency improvements and cost reductions

n

Lead or support process improvement initiatives

n

Contribute to operational planning and capital improvement discussions
