Job Description
Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships specialise in the employment of Apprentices and Trainees with our clients and the design and delivery of nationally accredited training.

Programmed has exciting opportunities in the Mackay region QLD for Civil Construction Traineeships specialising in Bridge and Road Construction and Maintenance.
n
Throughout the traineeships you will be hosted with a major Civil Construction company, RoadTek whom provide excellent mentoring, training and encourages teamwork and innovation within their business. RoadTek provides transport infrastructure solutions throughout Queensland as a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
n
Whilst engaged as a construction trainee you will be required to work outdoors and at times in a challenging environment being hot, dirty and dusty, rotating day/night shift on a roster basis. Working in Civil construction can be a physically demanding industry so it is essential you can meet these requirements before applying for these positions. Excellent above award pay rate with potentially overtime penalty rates.

- Ongoing support and mentoring

- Learn to Maintain and Rehabilitate Bridges/Structures
n
- Learn to Construct and Rehabilitate Roads and Road Furniture, including Road Marking
n
- Plan and organise work
n
- Carry out measurements and calculations
n
- Communicate in the workplace
n
- Use hand and power tools
n
- Control the work methods to ensure that construction work is carried out in an efficient and compliant manner
n
- Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
n
- Ongoing coaching,
mentoring and support to complete a Nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction - Structures or Road Construction Maintenance RII30920
n
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
n
- Construction White Card (can be completed online before commencing - it's a short safety course)
n
- Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport
n
- Flexible to work a roster of days and night works
n
- Flexible to work away on a roster/rotation of 10 days on, 4 days off
n
- Solid commitment to complete Certificate III in Civil Construction RII30920
n
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative
n
n
Other Requirements
n
n
- Passion for 'hands on work' and a genuine desire to work in construction
n
- General labouring experience an advantage
n
- Motivated and willing to learn with a positive self-starter attitude
n
- Competent numeracy & literacy skills with Year 10 High school certificate
n
- Proven experience working within a team environment
n
- Commitment to complete theory/written and practical components of the qualification
n
n
