Job Description
Some projects require someone to manage the contract.
n
Others require someone to help redefine how the commercial model should work.
n
We're representing a high-profile organisation delivering one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure programs and are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a sophisticated commercial team responsible for navigating challenges that don't have established playbooks.
n
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys solving genuinely complex commercial problems, balancing risk and innovation, and influencing how major infrastructure is delivered over the coming decades.
n
You'll be joining a team where commercial thinking extends well beyond contract administration.
n
The Opportunity
n
You'll play a key role in developing commercial solutions that support a complex ecosystem of government, private sector participants, investors, contractors, operators and regulators.
n
Success in this role will come from combining traditional commercial discipline with innovative thinking as new challenges emerge throughout project delivery.
n
This is an workplace where novel commercial approaches, strategic negotiation and creative risk allocation will often be just as important as strong contract management.
n
Your work is likely to include
n
n
- Developing commercial strategies that balance long-term project outcomes with commercial practicality.
n
- Solving commercial issues that don't have obvious precedents.
n
- Designing commercial frameworks capable of supporting evolving project and market requirements.
n
- Advising senior executives on complex commercial, contractual and investment decisions.
n
- Working across multiple stakeholders with competing commercial objectives.
n
- Leading sophisticated commercial negotiations with contractors, partners and government agencies.
n
- Identifying innovative approaches to risk allocation, incentives and commercial performance.
n
- Supporting governance and executive decision-making through robust commercial analysis.
n
- Managing high-value contractual relationships while maintaining a focus on collaboration rather than simply compliance.
n
- Working alongside technical, legal, financial and project delivery teams to achieve better commercial outcomes.
n
- Helping establish commercial processes that will influence the long-term success of nationally significant infrastructure.
n
n
We'd like to speak with people who have experience in
n
n
- Complex infrastructure, energy, transport or PPP environments.
n
- Major alliances, collaborative contracting models or other sophisticated commercial delivery frameworks.
n
- Commercial leadership on projects involving multiple public and private stakeholders.
n
- Strategic commercial advisory, commercial management or transaction experience.
n
- Negotiating complex contractual and commercial outcomes.
n
- Leading commercial discussions with executive stakeholders and government clients.
n
- Managing ambiguity while maintaining commercial discipline.
n
n
You may currently be working within a Tier One contractor, government delivery authority, major utility, infrastructure owner, consulting practice or advisory business.
n
Why this role?
n
Because opportunities like this don't come along very often.
n
Rather than inheriting an established commercial model, you'll help shape one.
n
You'll be trusted to think strategically, challenge conventional approaches and influence commercial decisions that will have a lasting impact on one of Australia's most significant energy infrastructure programs.
