Staines Memorial College is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to support the social, emotional, behavioural and spiritual wellbeing of our students.
n
Working as part of the Student Welfare Team, you will provide timely, informed and therapeutic support to students while partnering with families, College staff and external allied health professionals.
n

This is a part-time and term-time only role.
About the Rolen
As the College Counsellor, you will provide professional counselling, pastoral care and wellbeing support to students across the College.
n
You will:
n
n
- Respond to students' social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing needs
n
- Provide appropriate therapeutic care and support
n
- Offer Christian guidance and encouragement to students, families and staff
n
- Support students experiencing escalating behaviours to develop more positive ways of responding
n
- Work collaboratively with the Student Welfare Team and other College leaders
n
- Liaise with families and external allied health and support services
n
- Case-manage students and maintain accurate, confidential records
n
- Contribute to wellbeing programs, activities and professional learning
n
n
This position reports directly to the Director of Character and Culture and works closely with the Student Welfare team.
Key Responsibilitiesn
n
- Provide authentic, appropriate and timely counselling support to students
n
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and wellbeing practices
n
- Support the character development of students and help them recognise and develop their individual strengths
n
- Work with College leaders to respond effectively to student wellbeing needs
n
- Coordinate referrals and connect students with internal and external support services
n
- Organise and support activities and experiences that strengthen student wellbeing
n
- Manage appointments, case notes, follow-up actions and other administrative requirements
n
- Provide relevant career development and wellbeing education to staff and students
n
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development and clinical supervision
n
- Maintain professional, ethical and confidential counselling practices
n
- Follow College policies, safety procedures and the Staff Code of Conduct
n

- Be highly organised and able to manage appointments, case notes and follow-up actions

- Be committed to ongoing professional development and clinical supervision
n
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
n

- a permanent resident or

- have an appropriate permit to work in Australia

Desirable Skills & Experiencenn
- Experience providing counselling or therapeutic support to children and young people
n
- Experience working within a school or education environment
n
- Knowledge of contemporary student wellbeing and engagement practices
n
- Experience in student case management and referral coordination
n
- Ability to develop and deliver wellbeing programs or professional learning
n
- Membership of, or eligibility for membership with, an appropriate professional association
n
- Experience working within a Christian organisation or ministry setting
n
