Job Description

We're a family-run business with a close-knit team, and we're looking for a Buying & Planning Coordinator who wants to get genuinely good at buying.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership from day one. You'll work directly with the Buyer / Procurement Manager, touching every part of the import and product lifecycle, supplier sourcing, purchase orders, shipments, quality, and range performance. Because we're a smaller team, there's no hiding behind process: you'll be trusted with real responsibility early, and your work will have a visible impact on what ends up on shelf.

If you're detail-oriented, commercially sharp, and want to build deep expertise in product buying and import this is a strong environment to do that.

What You'll Own

n

- Purchase orders end-to-end — raising, tracking, and chasing POs with suppliers; monitoring ETAs and flagging delays early
n
- Supplier sourcing — source alternative suppliers for existing SKUs, comparing quotes to secure a better price than the current supplier
n
- Shipment & Import — collating ready-to-ship data from suppliers and acting as the operational bridge between suppliers and the customs agent; ensuring documentation is accurate and clearance runs smoothly
n
- Quality control — supporting pre-shipment and goods-in checks against spec sheets, logging defects, and maintaining supplier scorecards
n
- Range performance — analysing sales, stock turn, and margin data to surface slow-movers, gaps, and reorder opportunities

- Competitor and market tracking — benchmarking competitor pricing and researching trends to inform buying decisions

What We're Looking For

n

n
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, macros/Power Query a plus)
n
- Strong working knowledge of AI tools and genuine interest in keeping current with new tools
n
- Naturally price/cost-driven mindset — comfortable questioning margins and chasing better deals
n
- Understanding of, or experience in, the FMCG or discount/variety retail industry
n
- Excellent attention to detail
n
- Team player with strong communication skills
n
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
n
- Available to start immediately
n

Prior experience in wholesale/import, retail buying, or supply chain highly regarded but not essential.
