Job Description

Youth Off The Streets is a not‐for‐profit organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. Our services include alternative high school education, crisis accommodation and housing support, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice programs, life skills and employment pathways, cultural support and community engagement.

As a Youth Homelessness Case Worker (organisation title is IWYHS Case Worker), you will work directly with young people aged 12–24 who are experiencing housing instability, social exclusion, or multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities. You will provide structured, outcomes‐focused case management that supports young people to build safety, stability, independence and connection to community.

This is a relational, hands‐on role where you will meet young people where they are, assess needs and risks, develop individualised case plans and coordinate practical, culturally responsive supports. Your work is guided by trauma‐informed, developmentally appropriate and strengths‐based practice.

What You'll Do

n

Deliver high‐quality case management to young people with varying levels of complexity

n

Complete comprehensive assessments and develop, implement and review individualised case plans

n

Apply trauma‐informed,



developmentally appropriate and strengths‐based approaches

n

Respond to crisis situations using therapeutic crisis intervention principles

n

Build strong, respectful relationships with young people and families

n

Provide advocacy, referrals and supported linkages to services

n

Work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and culturally diverse communities

n

Develop and maintain strong interagency and referral networks

n

Maintain high‐quality documentation, reporting and data collection

n

Ensure compliance with child protection legislation, child‐safe principles and organisational policies

n

Promote young people's voice, participation and autonomy

n

Contribute to continuous improvement and participate in professional development and mandatory training

n

What You'll Bring

n

At least 1 year experience in case management with young people

n

A sound understanding of adolescent development and issues affecting young people

n

Strong communication, relationship‐building and organisational skills

n

Ability to manage caseloads, priorities and documentation effectively

n

Cultural competence and a commitment to working respectfully with diverse communities

n

Flexibility to undertake community‐based and outreach work

n

One of the following (or equivalent combination):

n

- Relevant 3‐ or 4‐year tertiary qualification
n
- Diploma with relevant experience
n
- Certificate qualification with relevant experience
n
