The Role:

A highly regarded Catholic secondary school in Point Cook is seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology teacher to join their the school from Term 3, until the end of the year.

n

You'll have the opportunity to deliver engaging and practical lessons in a modern, well-equipped kitchen setting, working with students from years 8-10 and dedicated assistant staff.

n

Key Duties:

n

n
- Work with others to develop a comprehensive food technology curriculum in alignment with educational standards and objectives for students in years 7 and 10.
n
- Create engaging and informative lesson plans that cover various aspects of food technology, including cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
n
- Instruct students on proper food safety and hygiene practices, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
n
- Teach students how to safely and effectively use kitchen equipment, including ovens, stovetops, knives, and other culinary tools.
n
- Integrate nutrition education into the curriculum, educating students about the nutritional value of foods and promoting healthy eating habits.
n
- Stay updated on current trends in the food industry, incorporating relevant and contemporary practices into the curriculum.
n




- Establish and maintain a positive and organized learning environment in the kitchen, managing student behaviour effectively.
n
- Collaborate with other food technology teachers, to enhance the overall culinary education experience.
n

Skills & Experience:

n

n
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
n
- Hold a valid VIT registration
n
- Catholic Accreditation favorable but not essential
n
- Experience in Food Technology in Australia advantageous however graduates welcome to apply
n
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years Highly developed interpersonal skills
n
- An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system
n
- Teach students in Years 8-10 in modern kitchen and classroom facilities
n
- Engage collaboratively with Food Tech faculty
n
