Our client is a highly regarded infrastructure organisation responsible for the operation, maintenance and long-term stewardship of significant transport assets, supporting the safe and effective movement of millions of motorists each year.

With significant investment underway across technology, automation, and asset modernisation, a newly created permanent opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Control Systems Project Engineer to join their team.

n

This client-side role will provide the opportunity to work on complex projects, partnering with internal stakeholders, specialist vendors, contractors, and technology partners to deliver critical infrastructure upgrades.

About Your New Role

n

This senior technical position will provide engineering leadership, governance, and technical oversight across the delivery of Operational Technology projects.

n

Key responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Support the delivery of Operational Technology projects from requirements definition through to design, integration, testing, commissioning, and handover
n
- Provide technical assurance, engineering governance, and project oversight across control systems, SCADA, PLCs, and intelligent transport environments
n
- Define project requirements, support technical scoping, and contribute to cost and delivery planning
n
- Review technical documentation including designs, project plans, test plans, O&M; manuals, and commissioning outcomes
n
- Oversee installation, integration, verification, validation, and testing activities
n
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, suppliers, and technology partners
n
- Support cybersecurity, risk management, change management, and configuration control activities

- Drive continuous improvement of technology processes, standards, and procedures
n

About You

n

We are seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Project Engineer who combines strong technical capability with proven project delivery experience in complex operational environments.

n

In line with the above, you will bring:

n

n
- Degree qualification in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related discipline
n
- 10+ years' experience delivering complex technology or engineering projects across the full lifecycle
n
- Strong experience with industrial control systems including SCADA, PLCs, automation, and Operational Technology environments
n
- Proven systems engineering experience across design, procurement, integration, verification, and validation
n
- Experience delivering brownfield upgrades within critical infrastructure or operational environments
n
- Strong understanding of control systems, networking, cybersecurity, functional safety, and virtualisation
n
- Proven ability managing vendors, contractors, stakeholders, technical documentation, testing, and commissioning activities
n
- A background within transport infrastructure, utilities or systems integration environments with ITS/SCADA/OMCS will be highly regarded.
