We're partnering with a large Queensland Government organisation seeking a Principal Cyber Security Analyst to join a high-performing Cyber Defence team responsible for strengthening cyber resilience across multiple government agencies.

n

This is an opportunity to lead incident response, threat hunting and security operations while mentoring analysts and driving the maturity of a contemporary Security Operations Centre.

n

Position responsibilities

n

n
- Lead and coordinate responses to complex cyber security incidents across a large enterprise environment.
n
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for the Security Operations Centre.
n
- Perform threat hunting, incident investigations and root cause analysis.
n
- Develop and optimise Microsoft Sentinel detection rules, workbooks, playbooks and KQL queries.
n
- Enhance SOC capability through improved processes, automation and Standard Operating Procedures.
n
- Mentor and support junior analysts while promoting operational excellence.
n
- Work closely with security,



infrastructure and technology teams to strengthen cyber resilience.
n
- Contribute to vulnerability management, threat intelligence and continuous improvement initiatives.
n

Required skills & experience

n

n
- Security Operations Centre (SOC) environments.
n
- Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR and KQL.
n
- Incident response, threat hunting and security investigations.
n
- SIEM technologies, vulnerability management and threat intelligence.
n
- MITRE ATT&CK;, NIST and contemporary cyber security frameworks.
n
- Security automation, playbooks and detection engineering.
n
- Python or PowerShell scripting (highly regarded).
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to mentor technical teams.
n
