Job Description
Disability Youth Support Worker - Lake Munmorah
n

Role Responsibilities
n
Youth Workers will be required to:
n
n
- Deliver high-quality care and support within a 24-hour residential setting to children who are unable to live with their families, kinship carers, or foster carers.
n
- Provide specialised disability support for young people with complex disabilities (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Non-verbal)
n
- Provide assistance with:n n
- PEG Feeding
n
- Personal care (full support which includes toileting, showering & feeding)
n
- Use of ceiling hoists/slings to safely transfer the client
n
- Medication administration
n
n
- Work a variety of shifts, including:n
n
- Day shifts: 6:00 - 09:00 & 06:00-14.00
n
- Afternoon shifts with sleepover – from 14:00 until 09:00am the next day
n
n
- Respond to the young person's physical, emotional and functional needs and support the development of their personal skills.
n
- Work within a team to provide disability care,trauma-informed and therapeutic care to young people presenting with complex needs due to past trauma and abuse.
n
- Provide a safe and homely setting while supporting young people to achieve their goals.
n
- Assist with administrative requirements and household duties.
n
n
What You Need
n
n
- A minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or aCertificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Interventionor a recognised tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related qualification.
n
- Experience supporting high-risk youth in a residential care setting.
n
- Experience supporting children and young people with disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy.
n
- Australian Driver's License (international licenses not accepted).
n
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
n
- Working with Children Check(paid employee status).
n
- National Police Check(current).
n
- Reliable car with registration certificate.
n
- Reliable smart phone with data.
n
- Ability to work a combination of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts (active and/or sleepover).
n
- Previous experience working with children and young people with complex needs
n
n
