Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Consultant to support the discovery, analysis, documentation, and transition of complex legacy application environments within a Queensland Government organisation. This role will play a critical part in ensuring quality delivery across application modernisation, operational readiness, and support transition activities.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant digital transformation program, working across multiple workstreams including application analysis, technical documentation, stakeholder engagement, operational support readiness, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilitie:

n

n
- Analyse legacy and highly customised application environments including PICK/MultiValue, DataBasic, Reality, UniVerse, UniData, jBASE, OpenQM, or similar technologies.
n
- Review application code, configurations, scripts, data structures, integrations, and operational processes to identify dependencies, business rules, and technical risks.
n
- Produce high quality technical documentation including architecture documentation, support guides, troubleshooting guides, deployment documentation, environment documentation, and handover artefacts.
n
- Analyse development practices, build processes, deployment procedures, release management practices, and version control methodologies.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve maintainability, repeatability, supportability, and operational efficiency.
n
- Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex technical findings into clear documentation and recommendations.
n
- Support ICT service management processes including incident, problem, change, testing, and transition to support activities.Assess application dependencies, module interactions, integration points, and operational constraints across complex environments.

About You

n

You will bring strong experience as a Senior Technical Consultant working across complex, multi stream projects,



with the ability to manage technical investigations, application discovery activities, stakeholder engagement, and the production of detailed technical documentation.

Essential Experience

n

n
- Expertise in analysing older or highly customised application environments, including PICK/MultiValue and related technologies.
n
- Demonstrated ability to understand unfamiliar application codebases with limited documentation.
n
- Strong analytical skills across application code, scripts, configuration, data structures, and operational processes.
n
- Extensive experience producing detailed technical and operational documentation.
n
- Experience with database platforms, runtime environments, development tooling, build processes, deployment practices, and release management.
n
- Ability to identify and document application dependencies, integrations, operational constraints, and technical risks.
n
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, consultation, and presentation skills.
n
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative team environment.
n
- Experience working within large enterprise or shared services environments.
n

- Experience working on digital transformation projects with associated organisational change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement and business adoption activities.
n
- AI assisted development, code analysis, or technical documentation tools used within secure enterprise environments.
n
- Knowledge of ICT service management frameworks, operational support models, testing practices, and transition to support activities.
n
- Tools & technologies including DataBasic, PICK/MultiValue, Reality, UniVerse, UniData, jBASE, OpenQM, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise support platforms.
