Australian Gold Capital is a privately owned Australian business specialising in investment bullion, precious metals and jewellery.

With retail stores across Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Geelong, we are continuing to expand and are looking for an exceptional Operations Manager - Retail to help lead the next stage of our growth.

n

This is not a traditional retail management role.

n

Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take ownership of our growing retail network, improve operations, develop our people and help shape the future direction of the business.

n

No experience in precious metals is required. We will provide comprehensive training in bullion, jewellery purchasing, precious metals investing and Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) transactions.

About the Role

n

Based in Melbourne CBD, you'll oversee our growing national retail network while working closely with the CEO.

n

Our stores operate with small, highly trusted teams—typically one or two consultants per location—making this a hands-on leadership role focused on developing people, supporting stores and maintaining consistently high operational standards.

n

You'll regularly visit stores, support staff, build relationships with customers and continually improve the way our business operates.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Leading, mentoring and supporting retail consultants across multiple locations.
n
- Recruiting, onboarding and training new team members.
n
- Developing confident, capable consultants who can make sound decisions and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
n
- Building a culture of accountability, professionalism and initiative.
n
- Oversee daily store reconciliations, cash handling procedures and end-of-day balancing to ensure accuracy and accountability.
n




- Overseeing inventory management across the retail network, including stock allocation, transfers and stock accuracy.
n
- Improving operational procedures and implementing best practice across all stores.
n
- Supporting stores during busy periods and staff absences by working alongside the team.
n
- Resolving customer escalations professionally.
n
- Building long-term relationships with VIP clients and delivering a premium customer experience.
n
- Assisting customers with significant bullion investments and specialist precious metals enquiries.
n
- Supporting customers purchasing precious metals through Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
n
- Assisting with recent store openings as the business continues to expand.
n
- Working closely with administration, finance and compliance teams.
n
- Developing expertise in bullion, precious metals, jewellery purchasing and SMSF investment solutions through comprehensive in-house training.

About You

n

You're an experienced multi-site retail leader who enjoys helping people succeed.

n

You naturally coach, mentor and develop staff while maintaining high operational standards.

n

You're equally comfortable visiting stores, working alongside your team behind the counter or assisting from the office when required.

n

You understand that exceptional customer service isn't about scripted sales techniques—it's about listening carefully, understanding each customer's objectives, providing accurate information and ensuring every transaction is handled professionally and accurately.

You'll ideally bring:

- Proven experience managing multiple retail locations.
n
- Experience in jewellery, banking, automotive, telecommunications,



hospitality or other customer-focused environments will be highly regarded.
n
- A proven ability to recruit, coach and develop people.
n
- Robust leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
n
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving ability.
n
- High levels of initiative, accountability and commercial awareness.
n
- Demonstrated ability to make sound operational and commercial decisions and confidently resolve day-to-day issues independently.
n
- Strong mathematical and numerical skills with the ability to perform accurate calculations and confidently work with weights, percentages, pricing and precious metal valuations.
n
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
n
- Professional presentation.
n
- Willingness to travel occasionally to interstate stores.
n
- A current Australian driver's licence.
n
