Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is hiring Disability Support Workers to join our Residential care team in Supported Independent Living in Wollongong NSW.

n

We have Casual shifts available as per below in our SIL homes located in various locations in Wollongong.

n

Successful probation may lead to Part time opportunities.

n

Physical aggression, Self-injurious Behaviors and multiple restrictive practices:

n

MALE SUPPORT WORKERS ONLY

n

Monday 2-10pm

n

Tuesday 2-10pm

n

Thursday 5:45am-11am

n

PEG Feeding, Stoma care and challenging behaviours

n

Tuesday 7-11pm +11pm to 7am sleepover

n

Friday 7-11pm + 11pm to 7am sleepover

n

Saturday 7-11pm + 11pm to 7am sleepover

n

Sleepovers with insulin trained mandatory

n

Friday - 10pm to 6am x 2 locations

n

Saturday - 10pm to 6am

n

Sunday 6pm to 10pm + 10pm to 6am sleepover

n

Behaviours of concern you must be confident supporting:

n

This role may involve supporting participants who can display:

n

n
- physical aggression(e.g., grabbing, scratching, striking)
n
- property damage(e.g., throwing items, slamming doors)
n
- sensory-seeking and repetitive behaviours
n
- PEG Feeding (must requirement)
n
- Insulin-trained (bonus)
n

n

Key responsibilities

n

n




- Follow BSP strategies consistently (including Green/Yellow/Red response)
n
- Uselow arousal de-escalationand proactive support strategies
n
- Provide personal care, hygiene support, and daily living assistance
n
- Medication administration(Webster packs) and PRN processes as authorised
n
- Maintain participant dignity, privacy, and skilled boundaries
n
- Escalate concerns through the chain: Team Leader -> House Coordinator -> ROM (after hours via On-Call)
n

What we're looking for

n

n
- SIL experience and confidence with complex behaviours (highly regarded)
n
- Strong documentation skills and ability to follow plans precisely
n
- Medication competency (or willingness to complete competency assessment promptly)
n
- Calm under pressure, consistent, and respectful communication
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check(or willingness to obtain immediately)
n
- National Police Check
n
- First Aid + CPR(current)
n
- Working with children check
n
- Must have a reliable car that is insured and have NSW Driver's License (Provisional is acceptable)
n
- MinimumCert IV in Disability / Community Services / Mental Health(or equivalent)
n
