Job Description
Sales Account Manager - Plastics to OEMs
n
They're an Australian manufacturer of engineered thermoplastic compounds and polymers, formulating customised material solutions for injection moulding and extrusion businesses across the country.
n
Operating for around 30 years and manufacturing locally since the mid-1990s, the business has grown from a distributor into a genuine specialist manufacturer with its own proprietary product range.
n
They're the biggest player in their space in Australia, holding a market share they've worked hard to earn.
n
Their edge is being local, responsive and flexible: they'll produce small runs (down to 500kg) without the container-sized minimum orders or long lead times that come with importing from overseas.
n
In-house engineering, product development and laboratory capability mean the team can design and tune a compound to solve a customer's specific problem, then support it all the way through.
n
Their materials go into products that have to last and perform, across general industrial, mining, agriculture, recreation, electrical and allied medical applications, rather than disposable or packaging plastics.
n
The business is privately owned and now run by local management with a clear long-term plan, including continued growth of an established offshore manufacturing operation.
n
Culturally it's relaxed, capable and low-ego: a tight team that backs its salespeople and treats a good one as worth their weight in gold.
n
With a long-tenured senior salesperson approaching retirement, an opportunity has opened up for an Account Manager to take the reins of his patch and keep those relationships humming.
n
You'll join an established, stable operation with real technical backing, a supportive customer service team and a generous handover to set you up properly.

n
- Work closely with customers on new projects and product development, helping them select the right material and solve technical challenges as they arise.
n
- Build relationships across every layer of an account, from the owner in the front office to the production manager on the floor who calls when something needs sorting.
n
- You'll get a proper, gradual handover from the retiring salesperson, who has built these relationships over more than 20 years, so you inherit warmth and trust rather than a cold start.
n
- Smaller accounts can be moved across to the in‐house customer service manager, keeping your focus on the relationships that matter most.
n
- Based out of the Sydney head office and covering NSW and QLD, reporting directly to one of the owners, with the autonomy to run your patch your way.
n
The experience you'll bring
n
- You'll bring an understanding of thermoplastics, whether from selling engineering compounds and allied products like masterbatch, polyurethanes or specialty chemicals, or from a technical, laboratory or operations background in plastics or chemicals, paired with the personality and curiosity to thrive in a relationship sales role.
n
- At least five years of real-world working experience, with the maturity and follow-through to manage long-standing customer relationships.
n
- A genuine relationship builder; organised, reliable, someone who does what they say they'll do and looks after people properly.
n
- On offer is a competitive base salary, uncapped commission on margin, a fully maintained company vehicle and a stable, long-term role with a market leader.
