ABOUT RENRON
n
Renron Australia is a specialist structural steel fabrication and welding business supporting major infrastructure and industrial projects. Founded in 2017, we have grown from an onsite welding provider into a multi-state business with a substantial fabrication facility in Point Cook and operations supporting projects across Victoria, Recent South Wales and Queensland.
n
Our work is technically demanding, fast-moving and highly visible to clients. We are looking for a Quality Manager who can bring structure, practical judgement and accountability to the role - someone who sees quality as a way to help production deliver the right result, not simply as an administrative function.
n
THE OPPORTUNITY
n
This is a senior, hands-on role leading Renron's quality function from our Point Cook facility. You will work closely with the Production Manager, workshop leadership, project teams and site-based welding supervisors to ensure quality requirements are understood early, planned properly and delivered efficiently.
n
The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and results focused. You will be expected to manage multiple fabrication projects at different stages, resolve issues without unnecessary disruption, and build a constructive working relationship with production while maintaining the standards our clients and certifications require.
n
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n
- Lead the day-to-day quality function across multiple concurrent workshop and site projects.
n
- Work collaboratively with production leadership to plan quality activities, remove roadblocks and support safe, on-time delivery.
n
- Perform the duties of a Welding Supervisor in accordance with AS/NZS 2214 and/or AS 1796 Certificate 10 requirements.
n
- Prepare, review and approve project weld plans, welding documentation and Certificate 10 welding reports.
n
- Develop, qualify,
maintain and control WPSs, PQRs and welder qualifications.
n
- Coordinate and provide technical oversight to workshop and site-based welding supervisors.
n
- Prepare project ITPs, quality plans, inspection records, traceability documentation and MDR dossiers.
n
- Undertake contract, drawing, specification and standards reviews to identify quality requirements before work begins.
n
- Manage NCRs and corrective actions through to practical close-out, focusing on root cause, prevention and timely resolution.
n
- Maintain Renron's quality systems, registers and databases so project records remain accurate, current and audit-ready.
n
- Coordinate NDT providers and other quality-related subcontractors.
n
- Host client inspectors, surveillance officers, auditors and third-party certification representatives.
n
- Monitor quality performance, identify recurring issues and implement measurable improvements across the business.
n
- Mentor and hold accountable quality personnel and welding supervisors across workshop and site operations.
n
n
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
n
n
- Quality requirements are identified and planned before they become production problems.
n
- Project documentation is accurate, complete and submitted on time.
n
- NCRs are addressed promptly and recurring issues reduce over time.
n
- Production and quality teams work as one team, with clear responsibilities and respectful communication.
n
- Multiple projects remain controlled, visible and audit-ready without avoidable last-minute pressure.
n
- Clients and auditors experience a qualified, responsive and technically credible quality function.
n
n
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
n
n
- Current WTIA Welding Supervisor certification to AS/NZS 2214 and/or AS 1796 Certificate 10, or a recognised equivalent acceptable for the role.
n
- A trade qualification as a boilermaker,
welder or closely related fabrication trade.
n
- Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 1554, AS/NZS 5131, ISO 3834 and ISO 9606-1.
n
- Demonstrated experience managing quality on structural steel, heavy fabrication or major infrastructure projects.
n
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and several projects at the same time.
n
- Experience developing welding procedures, coordinating procedure qualifications and controlling welder qualifications.
n
- Experience leading welding supervisors, inspectors, quality personnel and specialist subcontractors.
n
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to make sound technical decisions.
n
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility with workshop leadership, project teams, clients and auditors.
n
- High-level written communication, document control and reporting skills.
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
n
n
Highly regarded:
n
Experience with VicRoads Section 630 requirements, Transport for Victoria or Tier 1 infrastructure contractor quality systems; internal or lead auditor qualifications; and experience operating within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified systems.
n
WHY JOIN RENRON
n
n
- A senior role with genuine influence over quality performance and operational outcomes.
n
- Exposure to technically challenging structural steel and infrastructure projects.
n
- An established QA support team and direct access to operational decision-makers.
n
- A business that values practical solutions, accountability and continuous improvement.
n
- A competitive salary package reflecting the technical and leadership capability required.
n
n
IMPORTANT ROLE INFORMATION
n
This position is based full-time at Renron's Point Cook facility. It is an office-based leadership role with regular engagement in the adjoining fabrication workshop and with site-based personnel. It is not a hybrid or work-from-home position.
