We're looking for a Forward Deploying Engineer (AI) to become a key member of our AI & Tech Working Group, partnering closely with our internal AI/Tech Consultant and our external AI partner to design, build, deploy and measure AI solutions across every area of the business.

About the Role

n





As our Forward Deploying Engineer (AI) you'll work directly alongside operational teams to identify opportunities, rapidly build solutions, deploy them into production and measure the business outcomes.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Embedding within departments—starting with Administration and our Customer Contact Centres—to identify high-value automation opportunities.
n
- Designing, building and deploying AI agents and workflow automations from concept through to production.
n
- Developing reporting frameworks that clearly demonstrate ROI, productivity improvements and adoption.
n
- Expanding and improving our flagship AI initiatives including Performa, Sally, Frank and Remy.
n
- Creating and refining prompts, knowledge bases, workflows and escalation paths.
n
- Training employees to confidently use AI tools and helping develop AI champions throughout the business.
n
- Working closely every day with our internal AI/Tech Consultant and Advancer (our external AI partner).
n
- Providing regular updates and recommendations to the Bartons AI & Tech Working Group.

Where You'll Make an Immediate Impact

Your first projects are likely to focus on:

n

- Administration — streamlining high-volume business processes.
n
- Customer Contact Centres — expanding voice AI, enquiry handling and after-hours customer support.
n
- Our Philippines-based support team — equipping our offshore workforce with AI tools, training and automation.
n
- Sales enquiry experience — improving response quality, customer satisfaction and conversion rates across both human and AI interactions.
n
- Marketing — enabling our internal team with AI capabilities that reduce reliance on external agencies while improving effectiveness.
n
- SEO & Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)



— strengthening Bartons' visibility across traditional search and AI-powered discovery.
n

About You

n

We're looking for someone who combines solid technical capability with commercial thinking.

n

Ideally you'll have:

n

n
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying AI or LLM solutions in production environments.
n
- Experience as a Forward Deploying Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant or similar customer-facing technical role.
n
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to measure business outcomes and communicate ROI.
n
- Experience integrating business systems through APIs and automation platforms.
n
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with everyone from frontline employees to executive leadership.
n
- A pragmatic builder's mindset—you enjoy solving problems quickly and delivering tangible outcomes.
n

Automotive industry experience isn't essential. Our internal AI/Tech Consultant will help you quickly learn our business while you focus on delivering outstanding technical outcomes.
