St Leonards, Sydney NSW | Part-time, 22–30 hours per week | Predominantly work from home

- Lead the day-to-day administration of an established specialist practice

- Attend our St Leonards office one day each week, with remaining hours worked from home

- Fixed-term parental-leave position with the possibility of ongoing employment

- $45–$55 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience and capability

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Practice Manager or Senior Medical Secretary to join an established gastroenterology practice.
n
Working closely with Dr Douglas Samuel, you will oversee the practice's day-to-day administration, work alongside and coordinate a permanent administrator and occasional casual cover, and help ensure that patients, referrers and hospital partners receive efficient, professional and thoughtful service.
n
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and maintaining reliable systems in a busy specialist medical practice.
n
The successful candidate will attend our St Leonards office one day per week, with the remainder of their working hours completed from a suitable private home office.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Coordinating administrative staff and occasional casual cover
n
- Managing doctors' diaries, consultation appointments and theatre lists
n
- Overseeing patient enquiries, referrals, recalls and procedure bookings
n
- Managing Medicare, DVA and private health fund billing
n
- Monitoring accounts, invoices, banking and practice expenses
n
- Maintaining effective administrative, privacy and clinical-support systems
n
- Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, leave and staff administration
n
- Liaising with hospitals,
referring doctors, suppliers and external providers
n
- Identifying problems early and ensuring important tasks are followed through
n
n
About you
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
- At least three years' experience in medical reception or administration
n
- Previous practice-management or senior medical-secretarial experience
n
- Exceptional attention to detail and dependable follow-through
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
- Confidence making decisions and managing competing priorities
n
- Experience with Medicare, DVA and private health fund billing
n
- Sound IT skills; experience with Genie is preferred but not essential
n
- The ability to work independently and productively from home
n
- A suitable private home office, reliable internet connection and a strong understanding of confidentiality
n
- A calm, kind and professional approach to patients and colleagues
n
n
Previous gastroenterology experience would be helpful but is not essential.
n
Hours and remuneration
n
The role is approximately 22–30 hours per week across three to four days, with the working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate.
n
Remuneration is $45–$55 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience and capability.
n
Employment arrangement
n
This is a part time, fixed-term parental-leave replacement position commencing as soon as possible and expected to continue until approximately 5 April 2027.
n
The substantive employee has a right to return to her position following parental leave, and changes to her parental-leave arrangements may affect the duration of this appointment.
n
There may be an opportunity for ongoing employment after the fixed-term appointment, subject to the availability of a suitable ongoing position, the operational needs of the practice and satisfactory performance. Ongoing employment is not guaranteed.
