The role and what we are looking for

n

We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand to join our Urban Civil Construction team permanently based in Mackay, QLD. You'll be leading a crew across a diverse mix of civil infrastructure and sports field construction works - earthworks, drainage, pavements, landscaping, and site works - and setting the standard for safety, quality, and productivity on site every day.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You won't be watching from the sidelines - you'll be in the work with your crew, directing the day, solving problems as they come up, and making sure the job gets done right. What we're looking for

n

n
- Proven experience in a Leading Hand role on civil construction sites - you've held the position, not just filled in for it
n
- Hands-on technical capability across civil works - earthworks, drainage, pavements, or sports field construction - and a willingness to get in and do the work alongside your crew
n
- A genuine commitment to safety - you lead by example, every single day, and you hold your crew to the same standard
n
- Solid crew management skills - you can direct, motivate,



and develop a diverse team and deal with issues early before they become problems
n
- Ability to read site instructions and work plans and relay clearly to your crew
n
- Current White Card (Construction Induction) - must be held prior to start
n
- Valid drivers licence - essential for moving between sites across the Mackay region
n
- Locally based in Mackay or genuinely ready to make the permanent move
n
- Sports field or Civil construction experience
n
- Traffic management accreditation
n
- Plant tickets - skid steer, tractor, or similar
n
- First Aid certificate
n
- Experience coaching and developing less experienced crew members
n
