Job Description
We provide purposeful and intersectional support to LGBTQIA+ people living with disabilities on unceded Kaurna and Peramangk lands.

ColourFull Abilities is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals, including those in LGBTQIA+ communities. We recognise the unique needs and challenges faced by children and young people, especially within the community, and are committed to fostering an atmosphere that promotes their safety, well‐being, and growth.

We are a Registered NDIS Provider, and work cross the metro areas of Adelaide.

ABOUT THE ROLE
n
The Support Worker works alongside participants to provide a range of diverse person-centered emotional and physical supports, while assisting them to fulfill their NDIS plan goals.
n
Tasks may include
n
n
- In-home personal care
n
- Daily living assistance with domestic tasks (i.e. meal preparation, house cleaning, laundry)
n
- Provide support in line with individualised Care Plans
n
- Assisting participants to complete tasks in the community
n
- Supporting participants in leisure activities
n
- Supporting participants to complete applications/forms
n
n
At ColourFull Abilities, the Support Worker role is classified under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, under the Home Care stream.

ABOUT YOU
n
Essential: We are looking for Support Workers who have an open heart, are highly organised and detail oriented. We are looking for workers in the northern and central suburbs with a willingness to drive up to and over 30 minutes between participants. Successful applicants will have high capacity for taking on work. You will have well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with participants and their families, professionals and organisations.
You will have a genuine desire to provide care and support to vulnerable people as well as an ability to work in a changing work environment and to work both independently and as part of a team. It is important that our team has an awareness of the barriers that exist LGBTQIA+ people with disabilities.

Our Support Workers are required to have (or are willing to obtain) the following:
n
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
- DHS Working With Children Check
n
- Current First Aid, CPR and Mental Health First Aid certification
n
- Strong English language skills
n
- Full Driver's Licence and a reliable roadworthy vehicle.
n
n
Desirable characteristics
n
n
- Located in/willing to travel to the Northern or Sourthern Adelaide Suburbs
n
- In-depth understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities
n
- Lived experience of Disability and/or a member of LGBTQIA+ communities
n
- Current Flu vaccination
n
- Protected Environments for Children and Young People - "Through their eyes" Training
n
- An understanding/fluency of Auslan
n
- NDIS Quality & Safety Commission training: https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
n
- Fluency or ability to converse in a language other than English
n
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or other relevant qualification, or working towards obtaining a qualification within 12 months
n
