Job Description
Scenic World is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to play a critical role in the engineering, security & continuous evolution of our core technology platforms. This is a hands‐on, technically deep role suited to someone who enjoys designing robust systems, improving security posture & ensuring technology enables great frontline & guest experiences.

Operating within a 7‐day, revenue‐critical attraction environment, this role goes beyond day‐to‐day administration. You will be accountable for how systems are designed, integrated, secured & improved over time, ensuring our technology environment is resilient, scalable & practical for operations.
n
**Please note that this role is based full time, onsite at Scenic World in Katoomba. This is not a hybrid role.**
n
Reporting to the Head of IT, the Systems Administrator is responsible for engineering & continuously improving Scenic World's core platforms, infrastructure, identity services & security controls. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business & IT teams within the broader group to ensure systems support operational uptime, security & future growth.
n
Key focus areas include Microsoft 365, identity & access management, endpoint security, networking, backup & disaster recovery & security framework alignment.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Engineer, manage, and continuously improve core technology platforms including:n n
- Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
n
- Endpoint management, patching, and device security
n
- Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
n
n
- Design systems that are secure by default, resilient,
and aligned to operational realities.
n
- Engineer and maintain identity and access controls, including:n
n
- User lifecycle automation
n
- Privileged access models
n
- Guest and cross‐tenant access (where applicable)
n
n
- Design and implement security controls aligned to recognised frameworks (e.g. Essential 8, ISO 27001).
n
- Analyse vulnerabilities and engineer remediation strategies.
n
- Act as a key contributor during security incidents, investigations, and post‐incident improvements.
n
- Engineer and support network environments for:n
n
- Corporate users
n
- Operational systems (POS, CCTV, access control)
n
- Develop and maintain technical standards, system documentation, and runbooks.
n
- Support audits through robust system design, documentation, and evidence.
n
- Assist the Head of IT with software and hardware roadmaps aligned to business needs and asset renewal.
n
- Collaborate with IT teams across group businesses and support group‐level IT initiatives as required.
n
- Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture.
n
- Participate in ongoing technical, cultural, and business development.

About You
n
You are a confident Systems Administrator who enjoys designing & improving platforms rather than simply maintaining them. You bring a security‐first mindset,
strong problem‐solving skills & the ability to work across complex or evolving environments.
n
Essential experience & skills
n
n
- Demonstrated experience in a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
n
- Strong hands‐on experience engineering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments.
n
- Proven ability to design, secure, and continually improve identity and endpoint platforms.
n
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and security controls.
n
- Experience working in environments where uptime and security have a direct business impact.
n
- Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
n
n
Desirable skills
n
n
- Experience in hospitality, attractions, retail, or other operationally intensive environments.
n
- Exposure to security frameworks such as Essential 8 or ISO 27001.
n
- Experience in hybrid AD environments.
n
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and incident response engineering.
n
- Project management experience.
n
- Relevant Microsoft, security, or infrastructure certifications.
n
