STEPS Pathways College is an innovative residential training college that empowers young adults with disability to develop the practical skills, confidence and independence needed to live more independently.
n
We are currently seeking passionate and reliable Support Trainers to join our team on a casual basis. This rewarding role provides the prospect to mentor and support students as they build essential life skills within a unique learning environment.
n
About the Role
n
As a Support Trainer, you will provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to students as they participate in learning activities designed to increase their independence and confidence.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
- Assisting with the delivery of student learning and development activities
n
- Providing mentoring, coaching and support to students in daily living skills
n
- Supporting meal planning, food preparation and cooking activities
n
- Assisting students to participate in community access and social activities
n
- Encouraging student learning, independence and personal growth
n
- Supporting students with complex behaviours in line with behaviour support plans
n
- Applying risk management strategies and reporting incidents as required
n
- Providing one-on-one support to students where required
n
- Supporting student participation in recreational and extracurricular activities
n
- Maintaining accurate documentation, confidentiality and compliance requirements
n
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and following established training approaches
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for individuals who are patient, positive, adaptable and genuinely passionate about supporting people with disability.
n
We are particularly seeking candidates who are available to work sleepover shifts as part of our residential training environment. Sleepover allowances apply in accordance with the SCHADS Award.
n
To be successful, you will have:
n
n
- Experience supporting people with disability, youth or individuals with complex behaviours
n
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
n
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
- A proactive and supportive approach to helping others achieve their goals
n
- Availability to work across a rotating roster
n
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
n
- Able to provide evidence of work rights in Australia
n
- Current Open Drivers Licence
n
- NDIS Worker Screening Card
n
- Working With Children's Card (Blue Card)
n
- Hold current First Aid and CPR qualifications
n
- Hold Assist Clients with Medication (HLTHPS006) certificate
n
- Willing to obtain certificate of completion of the Epilepsy and Seizure Awareness training including Midazolam Administration - ESAMA
n
n
