Remuneration: $40.05 - $61.76 Per Hour + 12% Super + Salary Packaging

About the Role - Caseworker/Counsellor

As a Caseworker/Counsellor, bring your expertise in evidence-based drug and alcohol interventions to a role where your clinical knowledge, communication skills and strategic thinking can make a meaningful difference. You will work confidently across a complex multidisciplinary environment, building effective relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders across both public and private sectors.

Your ability to deliver high-quality written and verbal reports, develop and monitor service plans, and manage competing priorities within established timeframes will be highly valued. Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills will be key to thriving in this dynamic and fast-paced service.

At the heart of the Caseworker/Counsellor role is the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care, providing tailored clinical guidance and support that places each client’s needs, goals and wellbeing at the forefront. You will be part of a highly supportive MERIT team, with guidance from your Line Manager, Allied Health Lead, District Manager and experienced colleagues, ensuring you have the support and expertise around you to thrive.

Where you’ll be working:

Join the MERIT Team, a dynamic and supportive Court Diversion Program within Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS), based at Newcastle Community Health. You’ll become part of a passionate multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Psychologists,



Social Workers and Counsellors, bringing together diverse expertise to deliver holistic, person-centred support.

The team plays a vital role in creating positive pathways forward for people experiencing drug and alcohol dependency who are involved with the local court system. Through counselling, case management and collaborative support, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a pivotal point in each client’s journey - helping people move towards recovery, stability and better outcomes.

- Must hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, which provides either eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association or full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes, which may involve driving long distances.
