Job Description
Payroll Manager (Succession Opportunity)
n
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a well-established and growing financial services group.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys true end-to-end payroll and is looking for long-term career progression. You'll initially take ownership of payroll across multiple smaller entities before gradually transitioning into a broader payroll portfolio of approximately 500 employees. Working closely with our Senior Payroll Manager, you'll receive hands-on mentoring and support as you prepare to step into the role ahead of their planned retirement next year.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with a clear succession pathway into our broader Payroll Manager responsibilities. You'll join a collaborative, high-performing team that values accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing:
n
n
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple legal entities.
n
- Work closely with our outsourced payroll provider (Employment Hero) to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.
n
- Manage payroll-related GRC incidents, including ticket resolution, compliance reporting and risk mitigation.
n
- Prepare payroll tax and Fringe Perks Tax (FBT) reporting.
n
- Partner with HR Operations on employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding and employee data changes.
n
- Provide payroll journals and banking files to Finance following each payroll cycle.
n
- Maintain exceptional payroll accuracy while identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls.
n
- Build the capability to act as deputy to the Senior Payroll Manager before transitioning into the broader payroll portfolio.
n

What you'll bring:
n
n
- 7-10+ years' experience managing end-to-end payroll, ideally within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
n
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data.
n
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership, accountability and integrity.
n
- The ability to work independently while building strong relationships across HR, Finance and external providers.
n
n
Nice to have:
n
n
- Experience with Oracle HCM and/or Employment Hero.
n
- Experience supporting payroll through a system implementation, merger, acquisition or business integration.
n
