REFOCUS is seeking a Kinship Finding Practitioner(Connecting Kin) to join our Kinship Services team and help children andyoung people maintain meaningful family, cultural, and community connections.
n
This role is responsible for identifying, locating, andengaging relatives and significant people who may be able to provide care for,or maintain lifelong connections with, children and young people requiringout-of-home care. Working within the Connecting Kin service, you willstrengthen family networks and support the identification of safe kinship careopportunities before prospective carers enter the formal assessment process.

About the role
n
As a Kinship Finding Practitioner, you will:
n
n
- Identify,locate,
and engage relatives and significant people who may be able tocare for a child or young person
n
- Undertakefamily finding activities using interviews, family mapping, genograms, andavailable information
n
- Developcomprehensive family network maps to identify potential carers andlifelong family connections
n
- Facilitaterespectful and culturally safe conversations with families about kinshipcare opportunities
n
- Encouragefamily participation in planning and decision-making processes
n
- Provideinformation about the kinship care pathway, assessment requirements, andcarer responsibilities
n
- Supportprospective kinship carers to make informed decisions
n
- Promotethe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle
n
- Collaboratewith Child Safety, community organisations, and internal services toachieve positive outcomes for children
n
- Maintainaccurate case notes, family mapping records, engagement documentation, andreferral information
n
n
You will work closely alongside Kinship AssessmentPractitioners and Foster Care Recruitment Practitioners to ensureall placement opportunities are explored in a timely and child-focused manner.
n
Pay and conditions
n
Hourly pay rates range from:
n
Level 1 PPT3 $30.90 per hour, up to Level 3 PPT4 $52.93 perhour
n
Classification level and pay rate are assessed anddetermined based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.

Qualifications and experience
n
n
- Qualificationin Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Community Services,or a related discipline
n
- Experienceworking with vulnerable children, young people, and families
n
- Demonstratedexperience in family engagement and relationship building
n
- Experienceworking collaboratively with statutory and community services
n
- Understandingof Queensland's child protection and out-of-home care system
n
n
Highly desirable:
n
n
- Experiencein family finding, kinship care, or permanency planning
n
- Experienceworking with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families andcommunities
n
- Knowledgeof the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld)
n
- Understandingof the Queensland Child Protection Practice Framework
n
n
