Job Description

Federation Children are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Cook to join our Geelong West team; someone who is committed to ensuring children have healthy, nutritious meals and develop healthy eating habits through positive food experiences.

In this role, you will:

n

- work in partnership with families in meeting all children's dietary requirements
n
- provide healthy and nutritious snacks and meals for children
n
- maintain the environment in line with Federation Children's Food Safety Program
n
- co-ordinate the purchasing and ordering of supplies to reflect the menu; and
n
- prepare meals for large groups of children
n
- work as a part of a team, supporting and contributing to Federation Children as a community in line with Federation Children's Philosophy and Code of Ethics
n
- Catering for children with allergies and additional needs
n
- Understanding of the National Quality Standard healthy eating and physical activity are promoted and appropriate for each child.
n

Responsibilities:

n

n
- Monday to Friday
n
- Menu planning, supplies ordering and budgeting
n
- Upkeep and cleaning of kitchen facilities and equipment
n
- Implement rotational menus
n




- Ensure that all meals prepared meet the special dietary needs of the children with allergies & cultural preferences
n
- Ensure secure and hygienic storage, handling and preparation of food and drinks
n
- Maintain positive customer relations with families and children
n
- Working with Children Check must be current and valid before starting the position
n
- Relevant food handling certificates
n
- Food handling certificates must be obtained and current before commencing employment
n
- A friendly and positive attitude
n
- Experience and passion for creating healthy children's meals
n
- Excellent time management and verbal communication skills
n
- Experience working in a child care setting will be highly regarded, however not necessary
n
- Cert 3 in childcare is desirable but not essential
n
