To join a leading, reputable environmental and ecological consultancy, seeking an experienced Ecologist to join a growing ecology team. This is a hands-on role where you will be trusted to shape how work is delivered across a broad portfolio of ecology projects.

Key responsibilities

- Be part of a multidisciplinary ecology team.
n
- Maintain technical quality standards (methods, data management, reporting, peer review).
n
- Provide technical advice across flora, fauna, and aquatic services.
n
- Provide ecological survey design, field programs, analysis, and reporting to consultancy-grade standards.
n
- Act as a senior point of contact for clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
n
- Contribute to proposals, scope development, budgeting, and resourcing.
n
- Promote safe field practices and compliance with WHS requirements.
n
- Collaborate closely with GIS and drone capability to improve survey efficiency and reporting clarity.
n
- While not primarily responsible for new business development, your assistance in generating additional business opportunities beyond our current clients would be valuable.

About the Role
n
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Ecologist to join our Environmental Science & Ecology team. In this role, you will conduct ecological surveys and reporting, support environmental planning, and contribute to meaningful restoration outcomes across diverse projects. You'll work closely with our Director/Principal, ecologists, and field teams to deliver high-quality ecological assessments, reports, and client support.
n

n
Mandatory inclusions and requirements
n
Applicants must meet the following:
n
n
- Right to work in Australia (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa).
n
- Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, animal ecology, zoology, or other related discipline.
n
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Environmental or Ecological assessment and management sectors.
n
- High level experience with Ecological and Environmental assessment, approval and management under local, state and federal legislative requirements.
n
- Strong ecological survey and fieldwork experience.
n
- Experience in flora/fauna surveys, ecological restoration, and conservation planning.
n
- Strong scientific report writing skills.
n
- Practical knowledge of work health and safety policies and procedures.
n
- Current Australian driver licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork as required.
n
- Construction Industry White Card.
n
- First Aid Certificate.
n
- Ability to be self-managed, self-motivated, work autonomously as well as in a team environment and have a strong work ethic.
n
- Ability to undertake fieldwork in variable conditions (remote locations, uneven terrain, heat, wet weather, overnight stays).
n
- Willingness to complete project-required checks such as police check, medical/fit-for-work, and site inductions (as applicable).
n
n
Desirable (not mandatory)
n
n
- High level of comfort working with GIS outputs and spatial data interpretation.
n
- Experience working with Traditional Owners and incorporating cultural and ecological knowledge respectfully.
n
- Venomous Snake Handling Certificate.
n
- Lyssavirus vaccinated (or willing to obtain).
