This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise, people leadership skills and strategic thinking in a venue that hosts a diverse program of performances, productions, touring artists, festivals and community arts experiences. Reporting to the Service Manager Creative Arts, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of technical services, managing high-performing teams and ensuring every event is delivered safely, professionally and to the highest standard. This role is offered as a full-time maximum-term contract for an initial 6-month period, with the potential for extension up to a total contract term of 12 months providing an excellent opportunity to make your mark within a respected performing arts organisation while gaining valuable leadership experience in a high-profile venue.

Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Leading, motivating and developing a high-performing team of technical staff, contractors and casual employees.
n
- Managing the delivery of technical services including staging, rigging, lighting, sound and audiovisual operations.
n
- Overseeing technical assets, equipment maintenance programs and procurement requirements.
n
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, industry standards and best practice.
n
- Fostering a strong safety culture and maintaining safe, compliant technical operations across the Creative Arts Unit.
n
- Driving continuous improvement across technical systems, procedures and operational processes.
n
- Managing operational and capital budgets, reporting and resource planning.
n
- Collaborating with artists, hirers, production companies and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
n

About the Candidate
n
n
- Demonstrated experience managing technical services and production operations within a performing arts, entertainment, festival or events environment.
n
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and support high-performing teams.
n
- Strong technical knowledge across lighting, sound, staging, rigging, audiovisual systems and venue operations.
n
- Experience managing technical assets, contractors and operational resources.
n
- Demonstrated experience promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, policies and industry best practice.Robust organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
n
- Experience managing budgets, reporting and operational performance.
n
- A commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
n
- Qualifications in theatre operations, technical services, production management or a related discipline,
or significant experience within a performing arts, events, entertainment and/or festival environment will be highly regarded.
n
- An Intermediate Riggers Certificate (or the ability to obtain), Senior First Aid Certificate and/or an electrical trade qualification are desirable, but not essential.
