About the Role
n An opportunity exists to join our newsroom as either an experienced journalist or a graduate/cadet entering the industry.



These positions are based at our Healesville office and form part of a broader network of newsrooms producing weekly newspapers and daily digital content.

n

Our journalism is hyperlocal – focused on the stories, people, issues and decisions that shape the day‐to‐day life of our communities. You will work within an experienced independent publishing team with strong editorial leadership and a commitment to public‐interest reporting.

What We're Looking For
n We are seeking motivated and community‐minded reporters – from experienced journalists to high‐potential cadets – who can demonstrate initiative in news gathering and a passion for storytelling.

n

Key duties include:

n

n
- Reporting on general news, community issues, local government, sport and events
n
- Producing engaging digital and print editorial content
n
- Supporting special features and sponsored editorial as required
n
- Covering events across the region (including occasional after‐hours commitments)
n
- Meeting deadlines and working within weekly production cycles
n
- Assisting with proofing and preparing content for print
n

Qualifications & Experience
n We'd love to hear from applicants who have:

n

n
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, media, marketing or similar (or currently completing)
n
- Strong writing skills and excellent command of the English language
n
- A news sense and curiosity about local people and issues
n
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy newsroom
